The Unauthorized World Situation Report is a distillation. Its subject matter is world affairs and American history, focusing upon the Twentieth Century and its immediate aftermath. It is in the tradition of the American revolutionary war pamphleteers, to wit, an extended broadside in plain language, with a point of view and humor. This controversial reappraisal is very much at odds with the received version of events. it suggests that America's current difficulties in foreign affairs is the logical culmination of an attitude which came to the forefront in 1898, the year of the Spanish-American War.
