Though corruption exists wherever there is organized human life, reports continue to show markedly higher levels of, for example, bribery, kickbacks, cronyism and nepotism across the Asia Pacific area - particularly as compared to the 'developed' Anglo-European West. Despite the prolonged and multiple attempts to combat corruption across the region, especially in the wake of the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997-2000, the challenges for business organizations in corporate Asia remain arguably as formidable as ever.
