At the center of its walled old town, the gilded Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib) is the holiest gurdwara (religious complex) of the Sikh religion. It's at the end of a causeway, surrounded by the sacred Amrit Sarovar tank (lake), where pilgrims bathe.
