Slum and Guns,Tales of Marines in the Great War. Consisting of several short stories, Slum and Guns describes the life and times of Marines during the Great War, from their training in the United States to the killing fields of France. Most were brave as they advanced into intense artillery and machine-gun fire, suffering heavy casualties. At other times they offered aid to their buddies, French civilians, children, and even a dog. Food was obtained where ever it could be found.
