Inman has pointed out that an error has been made in the Pedigree by confusing Anthony Benson (22) with Captain Anthony Beckwith, and that the son Robert, with whom I have credited Anthony Benson, is really a Beckwith. I remember that the name was a difficult one to decipher, but I acknowledge with gratitude to Mr. Inman that I have deciphered it wrong, and that Anthony Benson must be at once deprived of his rank of Captain and of his only son Robert.<br><br>Benson (2) was chaplam to the Lady Scrope of Masham, and is mentioned in her will (Testam.Ebor. Surtees Society); another branch migrated to Ribblesdale, and held the grange of Copman-howe (now Capon Hall) between Settle and Malham.
