In 1960, Doug Angel was a member of Navy fl ight crew stationed at Johnsville, Pa. when a friend asked him if he wanted to skydive. He had spent his last few years fl ying off of aircraft carriers in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and the North Atlantic Seas logging more than 250 missions with a heavy attack squadron armed with nuclear weapons during the Cold War. Doug accepted the challenge and climbed onto the step of a small Cessna, twenty fi ve hundred feet over Valley Forge Pennsylvania, and began a career in the then primitive sport of skydiving that would span more than fifty years. During that time he made more than fi ve thousand jumps while loggingtwenty four hours in freefall. An instructor and jumpmaster, Doug personally trained over 20,000 fi rst time jumpers including future astronauts, John Kennedy, Jr. and Christie Brinkley. He lives in New Jersey and performs demonstration jumps with this team, The Fallin Angels.
