Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. As in many respects this grammar differs from other grammars, the plan which has been adopted requires a few explanations. Although modern works on Hebrew Grammar have been consulted by me, I did not think it advisable blindly to follow them. Experience has taught me that this would be far from prudent. The greatest scholars sometimes venture to create rules which have no sufficient basis and even to quote examples which only exist in their imagination. Most curious instances of this could be given. But for what purpose? In spite of a few inaccuracies they remain men who by reason of their learning and hard work are entitled to our respect. I merely wish, therefore, to point out in few words in what particulars this manual follows a more or less independent course, and the motives which have induced me to do so.
