Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. Sing unto Him a new song; Play skillfully with a loud noise. The religion of the Bible has its origin in the love of God, and in its effects makes manifest His infinite benevolence. In bringing many sons unto glory through Jesus Christ, God has designed to show forth His own perfections and promote the highest happiness of man. The Redeemer not only saves from death in sin, and gives shelter from the wrath to come to those who flee to Him for refuge, He also secures them to an inheritance incorruptible, undefiled, and that fadeth not away. He not only sets before them many great and precious promises, but He also gives to them a present earnest and foretaste of these glorious things. He calms the restless spirit with peace, inspires the heart with hepe that can not make ashamed, causes man to be joyful even in the midst of sorrow, and puts a' new song into his mouth, even praise unto the God who saves. The Chris tian receives the oil of joy instead of mourning, and the garments of praise for the spirit of heaviness. Though he still must suffer, he rejoices; though he sighs, yet for all that he sings.
