Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. Of course, in language and sentiment, some of these ditties are not all that could be desired, but the work being a collection of curious and genuine sea-songs as t/iey exist not as they would be, the task of selection and translation must have been one of considerable difficulty, and seems to have been ably and judiciously accomplished.
