He was the third child of eight and the oldest surviving son.*; In 1582 he marries Ann Hathaway (8 years older and already 3 months pregnant).*; They had 3 children: Susanna and 2 years later twins Judith (a girl) and Hamnet (a boy who died at the age of 11 of unknown causes (of plague probably).His 4 grandchildren died without children, ending his direct line.*; 1585 1592 are ';the lost years'. There are no records about Shakespeare's activities until 1592 when he came to London.*; In 1594 he joined a group of actors called The Lord Chamberlain's Men. In 1599 they built the Globe Theatre on the south bank of the Thames and Shakespeare became one of cca 7 co-owners of The Globe.*; First he helped adapt or rewrite older plays, later he started to write his own plays and he was very succesfull. His plays were also popular at the court (The group often performed for Elizabeth I. After the queens dead in 1603 they renamed to The King's Men and played for the king James I)*; In 1596 his son Hamnet died.*; Since 1607 Shakespeare's name doesnt occur in lists of actors any more.*; In 1612 Shakespeare returns to his wife and two daughters in Stratford as a wealthy man. He buys the second largest house in Stratford.*; In 1613 The Globe was destroyed by fire.*; In February 1616 Shakespeare writes his will.*; On 23 April 1616 Shakespeare dies, probably after a celebration of his birthday. He was buried on 25 April in Holy Trinity Church in Stratford.*; His plays were first published in 1623.
