Where Are the Feminine Black Women? is a collection of original poems by Sandra Phillips and is based primarily upon her observations as a young woman struggling to survive with body and soul intact under adverse circumstances. Upon the deaths of her oldest brothers, she became thrust into a leadership role amongst her siblingsa role for which she was never prepared. In her struggle to see beyond the blinders of naivety, poverty and grief, she encounters date rape, physical abuse and abject poverty. It is her hope that this work will inspire other women to look beyond the pain of their present situations to see that they are not alone and that there is light beyond the darkness.
