Meantime Webster had removed, in 1798, from New York City to New Haven, placing the editorship of the newspapers in the hands of another, and soon afterwards disposing of his interest in them. From this time on he devoted his life entirely to literary work, publish ing in 1806 an octavo English dictionary, and in 1807 a Philo sophical and Practical Grammar of the English Language.
