An historical novel on Masada, a rock fortress about one thousand three hundred feet above the Dead Sea, where the Jewish Zealots and Sicarii, in revolt against the tyranny of Imperial Rome, made a last stand against the battle hardened men of the Tenth Legion Fretensis. After withstanding a siege of nearly a year the Zealots and Sicarii committed mass suicide, they preferred death above slavery.
