BOOK SUMMARY/SYNOPSIS:A young woman is going through a marriage crisis and after an argument with her husband, recalls how they met. Anna and Grant are from different cultural backgrounds and although they love each other and share similar values, they have many conflicts. She recalls the romantic relationships she had, in her quest for the ideal husband. It is the era of the 1950's-1960's, when young women are expected to marry by the age of twenty-five, or be considered an 'old maid'. Anna moves to Toronto to pursue her career, surrounded by other ambitious young women who remain friends for life. After tumultuous relationships and heartbreak, she plans a trip to Paris to move forward with her life. Just before she is about to leave, she meets Grant, who sweeps her off her feet. She cancels her plans, they marry and she gets to know his family. The birth of their third child precipitates a crisis when Grant's new business venture materializes at the same time. Anna has a near-death experience and is hospitalized. With the help of brilliant Dr. Saul Ess, she begins a compelling journey to find her true strength and identity. Dr. Ess suggests she write a book, in order to understand her relationship with Grant. Anna writes the book, finds a new sense of purpose in writing and regains her strength. There is a powerful love between them. They persevere, resolve their differences and find new balance as a dynamic duo.ABOUT THE AUTHORThe author was educated at the University of Saskatchewan, University of Toronto SCS and Humber College.
