Elly Flodin is deployed from Denmark as an army chaplain to Camp Northern Lights. She supports the soldiers through conversations after attacks in the field and arranges social events in the camp. Elly’s Mission is a war novel about friendships and unity, love and grief. It points to the challenges that soldiers face before, during and after a deployment. Including psychological pressure and PTSD. The book also depicts the tensions that can arise when women are deployed among a majority of men. Elly’s Mission is a work of fiction but inspired by thorough research and interviews with Danish veterans who have been deployed in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Bosnia.
