A classic whodunit, 'The Dead Letter' is full of charming characters and could have easily been made into a series. Readers who enjoy classic detective stories like 'The Adventures of Arsène Lupin' by Maurice Leblanc will enjoy this book. Metta Victoria Fuller Victor, published under the name Seeley Regester, was an American novelist who is often credited with authoring of one of the first detective novels in America - 'The Dead Letters'. She wrote more than 100 novels in her career, and moved with her sister to New York in her late teens to pursue a writing career. She married an editor and publishing pioneer and published her own works under many different names. She died of cancer aged 54.
