About the author
Bjarne Als, Bering House of Flowers
Florist Bjarne Als, born in 1965, began his career early. At the age of 10, he worked part-time as an assistant at Country House in Fredensborg, weaving flower and pinecone wreaths and looking after the small flower shop on weekends. In 1981, he sought an apprenticeship with the Royal Warrant Holder, Erik Bering, located in Copenhagen. Bjarne was informed that he could start his apprenticeship a year later if he attended business school for one year. This turned out to be a pivotal decision, as he met the love of his life, Hanne. They were both only 17 and have been together ever since. In 2003, Bjarne took over from Erik Bering, and he now runs Bering House of Flowers together with Hanne at their shop at Landemærket in Copenhagen.
