Benians, Fellow and Lecturer of St J ohn's College, who was entrusted by the Editors with the general work of constructing the maps and revising them during reproduction, and who has carried out this work under their supervision. They desire to place on record their sense of the gneat ability and unremitting care with which he has executed his laborious and responsible task, spread over more than four years. During the greater part of the present year he has been assisted in the revision of certain of the maps and of the Introduction by Mr H. F. Russell-smith, of St. J ohn's College, Allen Scholar of the University, who has also compiled the Indexes to the Introduction.
