Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. As originally planned the present volume was to comprise the history of the mother parish of Tynemouth, and that of the ancient parochial chapelry of Earsdon. Requirements of space have obliged the Committee to keep back the latter section; but it is already written and largely in print, and will form a portion of Volume IX. Of the series.
