Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The writer claims for this little book nothing more than its title implies. It is, in the strictest sense of the word, an outline sketch of the pre Manchu period of Chinese history which, it is hoped, the student will fill in from a wider read ing.
