Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. And yet it is to be observed that it is only in more recent years that the great mass of original documents bearing on our history has been collected and made accessible to students. The publication by the State of twenty-six vol umes of a thousand pages each of this material has thrown such light on matters formerly obscure that the story of our people can now be much more accurately written than ever before.
