Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. With the exception of two chapters, portions of which have appeared in the Gentleman's Magazine, these sketches will, I believe, be new to English readers, though they are to some extent enlarged and rearranged from Notes from Tasmania published in The Week, and from Notes from New Zealand published in the Queens.
