Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. When he died, I not only felt the loss of a gentleman with whom I was on the most agreeable terms, and with whom it was to me always a great delight to discuss the interesting story of old Annapolis but I was also keenly sensible of the misfortune the county and the reading public everywhere had sustained by the untoward interruption of the important work to which he had devoted so much time and labour.
