Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. In 1864 - 5 hundreds of genealogical blanks were mailed to Pitkins, and Pitkin mothers, settled in most of the States and territories. To many of them I am indebted for prompt and complete records of their families and relatives, while of others of the family it has taken years of time and no small amount of perseverance to ascertain their whereabouts, together with no small expense for printing, postage, and traveling expenses. In no case has a possible clue been abandoned, although many dates are wanting; necessarily so, from the loss of early records, both of church and town, and others from neglect in answer.
