Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. My chum I find to be a fine old French gentleman from New Orleans, by the name of Blanchard. He is able to converse some in English, but not very fluently. Our state room is in the forward part of the ship and is quite too small for convenience, especially as we have each of us a very large trunk. Every state room and berth in the ship appear to be occupied, and I under stand the number of passengers on board to be about 140. The officers, crew, cooks, waiters, &c., must be about 100, making the whole number of souls on board, near 250.
