Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. Perhaps it may, be thought an instance of vanity that I pretend at all to write my own life at this early period, as it is very difficult for a person to speak of himself without leading the mind to think either he is a vain man or an assumer but as this narrative shall contain very little of my own history, which will be as a mere curious satisfaction, being a foreigner, I should hope that the reader will not consider such representation as an object of vanity.
