Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. IN presenting a second edition of The Saint of the Eucharist to English-speaking Catholic readers, the Fathers of the Franciscan Capuchin Province of England venture to hope that the appearance of a Life of St. Paschal will be particularly appropriate at the present moment, in View of the forthcoming Eucharistic Congress, now about to'be held for the first time on British soil. It is Surely fitting that the name of a Saint, whose lifelong and all-absorbing devotion to the august Sacrament of the Altar merited his selection by the Vicar of Christ, as heavenly Patron of all Eucharistic Congresses and Associations, should be rescued from the obscurity with which it appears to be surrounded at the present time in the English speaking Catholic world. The attention of our readers is particularly invited to the Preface of the first edition, published three years ago in the United States of America. They will there note that the accounts of the miraculous events which enter so largely into the story of Paschal's life are not a mere collection of legendary tales, but are based entirely on the testimony of witnesses, cited by ecclesiastical authority to give evidence in the Processes of Beatification and Canonization.
