Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The customs of marriage, burials, etc., differ from those of non-moslems; religious ceremonies enter into all such events, as they do into practically all the affairs of life. Moslem girls are not given in marriage into Chinese families, but a Moslem may marry a wife of another religion, who is, however, expected to become a Moslem. At the marriage ceremony the aong recites passages from the Koran. At funerals the body is wrapped in white bandages, and covered with a bottomless coffin and then conveyed to the grave, where - the body is interred the coffin is then taken back to the mosque, where it is kept ready for further use. Moslems have their own burial grounds distinct from others, if possible.
