Gender equality is much debated issue in almost all the countries of the world. The country programme (2003-2007) of UNDP has identified Promotion of Human Development and Gender Equality as one of the priority areas. UNDP for the current country programme has attempted to ensure that gender concerns are addressed across all its project activities and has also designed a dedicated project, Promoting Gender Equality. This project will be executed by the Department of Women and Child Development (DWCD), Ministry of Human Development, Government of India.
