Reading researches in Indian orthographies are rather few. But, such studies are needed to establish pan-orthographic universalities and specificities in reading processes. This volume presents such studies done in the context of an Indian writing system. Some of the studies reported in this volume were published in different journals; some were presented in different seminars and symposia. Instead of making fragmented expositions it was thought better to put them together, so that readers get a complete view of this reading process. Future researches are expected to unfold yet undiscovered facets of reading in the context of Indian orthographies.
