This book on Student Politics and Voting Behaviour is a study of concrete political behaviour and action of students of Jawaharlal Nehru University. For the first time the process of politicisation in a student community reputed with high political awareness has been empirically grappled with. It departs from the usual "e;Voting behaviour"e; studies by its emphasis on the "e;extra ballot box"e; political participation. It draws upon concrete instances of agitational politics on the campus to show the ramifications of the broad politicisation in a micro-level. Various factors contributing to the process of politicisation such as proximity to the corridors of power, existence of stuc ut wings of national political parties and the inherent linkages of the political and educational systems etc. have been studied to explain the politicisation of a student body. The whole analysis has been conducted not from the standpoint of an "e;objective-roof-top"e; academician but on the basis of actual participation in the ongoing political process on the campus, the author himself being a student of the University.
