Labour welfare is an extension of the term Welfare and its application to labour. During the industrialisation process, the stress on labour productivity increased; and brought about changes in the thinking on labour welfare. The economic capacity puts the ultimate limit to the extent of welfare measures to be provided to the workers or to any other section of the society. The real costs of welfare services remain the same irrespective of the agency selected for the purpose. Further, it is difficult to specify who bears the costs of welfare services, either voluntarily or under the requirements of law. It is expected that the book would serve the interests of the students as a source of information for understanding and appreciating the finer aspects of Labour Welfare.
