The book brings together various research articles and reports on the subject of crime and women. It deals with issues of crime against women and some issues of women in crime. In doing so, it questions the distinction drawn between woman victims and criminals in crime, specially as seen when studying men and crime. When we look at women in sex trade for example, it may be easy to label them as criminals along definitions of law but can social sciences hold similar views? When we look at the inter-faces of crime and women and how women experience crime, it is obvious how vulnerable women are to social processes and how heavily they carry the burden of crime. In that sense, these articles are a comment on our social system and the space it allows women. Where men stand to benefit from violent criminal image which may add to their sense of manhood women if so identified, on the contrary are stripped of all feminine identity and made more vulnerable thereof. It is hoped that these observations will help better understanding of the issues raised and place the debates on a more women friendly dais.
