Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. In order to ascertain whether this important source of business was one which would continue, and also in the desire to be of constructive service to the industry as a whole, the publishers of these periodicals made an exten sive study of selling conditions in the automobile field. A year was devoted to this work. During that time representatives of the Division of Commercial Research interviewed 262 manufacturers and 619 distributors and dealers, located in every part of the country - traveling for this purpose an aggregate of more than miles. The results of the investigation, when compiled, com prised 2500 typewritten sheets, charts, maps, statistical tables, etc., incorporated in four volumes. Copies of these volumes are on file in the Offices of The Curtis Publishing Company.
