Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. All over this country to-day those who are really conversant with the conditions as they now exist plainly see and know that there is a growing scarcity of game and fish, or in other words, the wild crea tures of forest, field and stream are on the decrease, and in such alarming fashion that unless stringent measures are taken at once the next, and perhaps the present, generation will see the last of them. We realize that there are many who decry this statement, and even laugh in contempt at such a prophecy, but we saw the same thing during this generation when the buffalo and passenger pigeon were to be seen in countless numbers throughout the country, and yet where are these creatures now? Again, why is it that these same people who think the game and fish are not growing scarcer are constantly demanding of their state commissions that the latter put forth more effort to restock their game covers and their fishing waters? There is no question but what these good people see the impending fate of their fish and game, yet they are so selfish they do not want their own pleasures curtailed for the benefit of the future. That is the real truth of the matter. This being true, it behooves the unselfish advocates of this grand cause.
