The Biographisches Handbuch deutschsprachiger Rechtswissenschaftler im Exil [Biographical Handbook of German-Speaking Jurists in Exile] gives an overview of all jurists who, following the seizure of power by the National Socialists, were persecuted, who emigrated and then continued their academic activities in the respective country of exile. The 73 entries contain biographical data on origin, education, academic career and research activities, together with a bibliography. Volume 1 lists the jurists who emigrated to Europe, South American and Africa, while Volume 2 deals with those who emigrated to the USA.
The handbook is based on an extensive study of source materials and represents an important resource for further studies of the history of expatriates after 1933.
