This book contains edited summaries of the papers presented at the Symposium and summaries of the discussions. The Symposium was financed by the Nobel Foundation through grants from the Tercentenary Foundation of the Bank of Sweden and organized by a special committee appointed by the Norwegian Nobel Institute.
