IN issuing this little work the author has endeavoured to provide the student with a book of moderate size, giving a clear and concise account of metallurgical processes, and the principles upon which they are based. Details are only given when necessary for the sake of clearness. The chemical changes involved in the various processes described are specially dealt with, but it must be remembered that the equations given for reactions occurring at elevated temperatures in most cases only partially express the truth.
