Des donnes de base et quelques statistiques sont prsentes, avec une rfrence spcifique la production hydrolectrique, aux barrages hydrolectriques, aux centrales hydrolectriques, en fonctionnement ou en construction. Les principaux aspects de l'hydrolectricit sont discuts. Les donnes sont prsentes sur le capital type et les cots de fonctionnement internes et externes. Les impacts environnementaux et sociaux sont discuts et il est fait rfrence l'impact des rservoirs sur les missions de gaz effet de serre. Une section est ddie l'exploitation de l'nergie marmotrice au moyen de systmes de barrage.
