But as we have to suit ourselves to the capacity of each and every one who may read this page, we will reduce these several definitions to the most homely and intelligible terms possible; and we say that supernatural and divine faith is a theological virtue which lifts up our minds to a firm belief of all that God has revealed, on account of the sole motive of its having been revealed by the God of boundless wisdom and truth. We will weigh each of these words, so that the nature of a Virtue so essential to Christian life may be made plain to minds nu trained in theological science.
