All glory was unquestionably due to the sacred humanity which the word had mercifully assumed; in fact, the dignity imparted to it by the hypostatical union, was in itself so sublime, that any attainable degree of external honour, must have dwindled into nothing by comparison. To human view, it appears, that consistently with the demands of strict justice, Jesus Christ should have exalted his humanity in the eyes of mortals, - the more so, as it was incapable of appropriating that glory, which would have reverted in its fulness to his divinity. But widely different are the views of God, from those of men!
