In the Andover Review for September, 1887, was published an article of mine entitled If Material, Why Mortal? At various times since then I have given numerous reprints to friends and have been frequently Offered sug gestions that it be amplified and published in book form. Among these was an eminent and well-known Bishop who, like various other clerical friends, could see nothing in it antagonistic to the Christian religion.
