It is remarkable that this knotted Lace, Macrame, in spite of its ah cient date, should have been generally unknown in this country, until we had the honor and privilege of introducing it. Its history goes back to a very early date. Knotted threads in the most ingenious and varied designs may be seen in the pattern books of the 16th century.
