Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. Of the white oak group those most used, in addition to the true white oak, are burr oak, chestnut oak, post oak, chinquapin oak, swamp white oak, cow oak, and overcup oak. Of the black oak group the most used are, Texas red oak, red oak, and spotted or water oak. Real white oak of No. I quality is very largely cut into quarter sawed boards, while a combination of one or more white oaks and red oak may constitute cuts of white oak. In many markets the term cabinet white oak is under stood to include a mixture of red and white oaks, but not infrequently it means simply red oak. However, for all the purposes for which white oak is commonly used, practically all the trees of this group will yield woods that can be interchanged and will serve equally well.
