Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The present treatise has engaged the attention of the Author for the past six years. Since it is intended especially for the general public as a guide in the self-treatment of the many ailments that may affect one's Hair or Beard, the Author has, so far as possible, avoided purely technical terms. In order to still further popularize the book, he has, also, at the risk of tautology, translated each prescription into its common English equivalents.<br><br>Numerous authorities have been consulted, and their text and illustrations have, in many instances, been altered to suit the views of the Author, and so used, or else have been copied entire.
