Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. Recognizing the high value Of good illustrations in emphasizing the information given in the text, all phases Of this book have been thoroughly illustrated. It is the confident belief of the authors that considered either from the standpoint of the completeness with which all phases of the subject are covered or of the excellence of the illustrations themselves, no equal set of photo graphs on the subjects treated has ever before been gathered together.
